Kelsey Martlage had three hits and drove in five runs on Friday (April 16) as the SJ-O softball team registered a 15-4 season-opening win at Villa Grove.
Alyssa Acton and Peyton Jones each collected three hits. Acton belted two doubles and knocked in three runs.
The Spartans produced a 15-hit attack. Shayne Immke, Addy Martinie and Audrey Short all collected two hits. Martinie drilled a home run and had three RBI.
Maggie Ward pitched six innings and picked up the victory. Sophia Martlage pitched a scoreless seventh inning.
On Saturday (April 17), SJ-O lost at Herscher, 13-3.
Acton had two hits and Jones stole four bases. The Spartans hit a home run for the third game in a row. Kennedy Hudson smacked a solo homer.
SJ-O (2-1) returns to action on Wednesday (April 21) at home against Tri-Valley.
