Three wins in three days for Oakwood Baseball

Josh Young rapped three hits and Dalton Hobick added two hits for Oakwood, which was edged by Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin 7-6 on Monday (May 10) in Bismarck.
The Blue Devils scored once in the bottom of the seventh to create extra innings and pulled off the walk-off win with one out in the eighth inning.
Young drove in two runs for Oakwood. Grant Powell scored two runs. A double by Young was the Comets’ only extra-base hit.
Isaiah Ruch pitched the first 5 2/3 innings and struck out a season-high 11 batters. Dylan Bensyl, who took the loss, struck out three in 1 2/3 innings of work.
On Tuesday (May 11), the Comets collected an 8-6 win at Salt Fork.
Brody Taflinger and Griffin Trees each had two hits for Oakwood. Koby Fletcher had two RBI.
Hobick and Powell tallied two runs apiece.
Travis Tiernan and Young shared the pitching load. Tiernan worked the first five innings and scattered four hits. He walked one and struck out six while registering his second consecutive win. Young pitched the final two innings, allowing one hit and one walk while fanning four.
On Wednesday (May 12), Oakwood made the most of its four hits – two singles each from Ruch and Young – and edged Georgetown-Ridge Farm, 4-3, at home.
Powell stole two bases and scored two runs. Matthew Miller had an RBI.
Bensyl pitched 2 1/3 innings of one-hit, scoreless relief, striking out five batters while picking up his first win of the spring.
Oakwood (7-5) returns to action on Thursday (May 13) at home against Mahomet-Seymour.
