Blue Devil softball defeats Georgetown-Ridge Farm

Vanessa Wright had two hits and scored three runs on Thursday (May 13) as the Blue Devils topped visiting Georgetown-Ridge Farm 7-5 in a non-conference softball game.
Kayln Cordes knocked in two of Villa Grove’s runs.
The Blue Devils broke a 5-5 tie with a two-run fifth-inning.
The Blue Devils were limited to six hits. One was a single by Kyleigh Block.
Alexandria Brown pitched a complete game for VG and won her third consecutive game. She walked two and struck out five in her seven-inning stint.
On Friday (May 14), the Blue Devils snapped an 8-8 deadlock with a sixth-inning run and Block pitched two innings of scoreless relief as Villa Grove captured a 9-8 win at Paxton-Buckley-Loda.
Allison Pangburn and Maci Clodfelder each hammered three hits for VG. Vanessa Wright, who slugged a home run, drove in four runs.
Block, Brown and Wright all finished with two hits. Clodfelder totaled three RBI. Block extended her hitting streak to 11 games.
Brown pitched the first five innings to post her fourth consecutive win.
On Saturday (May 15), the Blue Devils dropped an 8-4 decision at home to Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond. All four of the VG runs were scored in the bottom of the seventh inning.
The Blue Devils had four hits for the game and three went for extra bases: triples by Chloe Reardon and Vanessa Wright and a double by Emma Bratten-Noice. Reardon knocked in two runs.
Villa Grove (6-10) returns to action on Monday (May 17) at home against Argenta-Oreana.
