Burnett pitches fourth consecutive complete-game shutout
Senior Crayton Burnett pitched his fourth consecutive complete-game shutout for St. Joseph-Ogden on Thursday (May 13), stopping Central Catholic 2-0 in an Illini Prairie Conference baseball game in Bloomington.
Burnett and Ty Pence drove in the SJ-O runs.
Burnett (6-0) is working on a streak of 29 1/3 consecutive scoreless innings. He struck out 14 BCC batters and walked two.
Griffin Roesch and Tyler Altenbaumer scored the Spartans’ runs.
Both teams were held to two hits, one single and one double. Altenbaumer had a double and Coby Miller a single for SJ-O.
On Saturday (May 15), Hayden Brazelton and Pence teamed up on a one-hitter with nine strikeouts and two walks as SJ-O dispatched Salt Fork 11-0 in St. Joseph.
Altenbaumer and Andrew Beyers had two hits apiece. Altenbaumer knocked in three runs.
Burnett, who drew three walks, scored three runs.
The Spartans (20-2) return to action on Monday (May 17) at Tolono Unity.
