Elliott leads Oakwood girls in Class 3A IESA track and field sectional

Aubriana Elliott won an individual event and helped an Oakwood relay place first in the Saturday (May 15) Class 3A IESA girls’ track and field sectional meet at Watseka.
Elliott was the champion by 14.25 seconds in the 1,600-meter run. Her time was 6:13.14 seconds.
She joined Tierney Moran, Taylor Smoot and Alyssa Wells on the triumphant 400-meter relay. Their time was 58.83 seconds, good enough for a 1.17-second margin of victory.
Other top-10 finishes for the Knights were Moran (third in 100 meters, 14.56 seconds), Wells (fourth in 100 hurdles, 19.82 seconds), Wells (fourth in high jump, 4 feet), Elliott (sixth in long jump, 12 feet, 7 inches) and Smoot (10th in 200 meters, 32.29 seconds).
In the team standings, Oakwood was seventh with 35 points.
The meet champion was Watseka with 74 points, followed by Paxton-Buckley-Loda (67 points) and Manteno (50 points).
In the girls’ seventh-grade IESA sectional at Watseka, Oakwood had no top 10 placers.
Herscher Limestone and Westville shared the team title, each accumulating 87 points.
