Four Comet wrestlers remain unbeaten

Four Oakwood wrestlers went 4-0 in four recent dual meets.
Freshman Nate Whaley (106 pounds), senior Gage Reed (120 pounds), sophomore Reef Pacot (126 pounds) and junior Joe Lashuay (160 pounds, 170 pounds and 182 pounds) all were unbeaten.
Lashuay registered three pins. Reed and Pacot each posted two pins. Whaley had one pin.
On Saturday (May 15), Oakwood toppled Olney 67-6 and lost 55-21 to the host school, Vandalia.
On Tuesday (May 18) at home, Oakwood handled Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin 57-18 and defeated Effingham for the second time this season by the exact same score, 60-9.
Freshman Bryson Capansky (132 pounds) was 3-1with two pins, sophomore Blake Barney (138 pounds) was 3-1 with three pins, freshman Grant Brewer (152 pounds and 160 pounds) was 3-1 with one pin.
Senior Josh Miller (220 pounds) participated in two of the matches and was 2-0 with one fall.
Compiling 2-2 records were senior Connor Hutson (145 pounds and 152 pounds) with one pin, Ezekiel Smith (182 pounds and 195 pounds) with no pins and sophomore Thomas Lay (285 pounds) with no pins.
Sophomore Ben Jessup (160 pounds) was 1-1 with one pin as was senior Tate Johnson (170 pounds).
Oakwood (11-2) returns to action on Thursday (May 20) in a meet against Clinton and Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley.
