Karsen Rupp recorded 11 strikeouts and went 4-for-4 at the plate on Thursday (May 20) as Oakwood tallied a 12-4 Vermilion Valley Conference softball victory at Hoopeston Area.
Rupp rapped two doubles and two singles. She held the Cornjerkers scoreless the first five innings and issued just one walk.
Alaina Rothwell and Alyssa McCoy were other Comets with at least two hits. Rothwell’s run-scoring single in the first inning provided Oakwood an early cushion.
Oakwood amassed 16 hits for the game and played errorless defense.
The Comets (4-7) return to action on Monday (May 24) at home against Salt Fork.
