Spartan softball reaches 20-win mark

St. Joseph-Ogden reached the 20-win mark in softball for the 33rd consecutive year that the sport has been played at the school on Thursday (May 20) with an 11-4 Illini Prairie Conference win at home over Pontiac.
Shayne Immke generated three hits for SJ-O while Peyton Jones contributed two hits and Kelsey Martlage socked a home run.
Alyssa Acton earned the pitching win. Maggie Ward and Sophia Martlage also had pitching stints.
On Friday (May 21), the Spartans pounded seven home runs in a 13-2 victory at Westville.
Immke, Jones and Addy Martinie each blasted two homers. Ward had one home run in addition to pitching five innings and collecting the pitching win.
For the season, Immke has 12 home runs, Martinie has seven and Jones has two. Immke has four multiple home run games as a sophomore.
SJ-O (21-5) returns to action on Monday (May 24) at Pontiac.
