Pontiac snaps SJ-O softball win streak

The Spartans’ 12-game softball winning streak came to an end on Monday (May 24) with a 5-2 loss at Pontiac.
Five players had hits for SJ-O, but no one had more than one. Alyssa Acton drove in one run for the Spartans and the other run crossed home plate on a passed ball.
Maggie Ward yielded eight hits and took the loss.
On Tuesday (May 25), the Spartans outscored Prairie Central 13-11 in Fairbury.
Addison Frick and Shayne Immke both belted three hits and Frick stole a game-high seven bases. Contributing two hits each were Kennedy Hudson, Addy Martinie and Kaylee Ward.
Sophia Martlage (5-2) pitched four innings and picked up the win.
On Wednesday (May 26), Maggie Ward (11-3) pitched a seven-inning, three-hitter as SJ-O blanked Teutopolis at home, 2-0.
The shutout was the team’s third of the spring.
Ward, who walked no one, was backed by an errorless defense and an offense that featured two hits by Frick.
SJ-O (23-6) is scheduled to return to action on Thursday (May 27) at home against Prairie Central.
