Comet baseball hand Mount Pulaski first loss of 2021 season

Isaiah Ruch and Josh Young teamed up on Tuesday (June 1) to pitch Oakwood to a 4-2 win at Mount Pulaski, handing the Hilltoppers their first loss of the baseball season in their 17th game.

The Comets scored two first-inning runs and never trailed.

Ruch (six inning) and Young (one inning) combined on a four-hitter while walking three batters and striking out nine.

Dylan Bensyl had two of Oakwood’s six hits. Young, Matthew Miller and Bensyl drove in runs for the Comets.

Oakwood (13-9) returns to action on Friday (June 4) at home against Westville in a first-round Class 2A regional game.
