Sleepy Creek Vineyards Art & Music Festival kicks off Saturday
Sleepy Creek Vineyard is ready to party.
The 20-year old vineyard will embark on the annual Sleepy Creek Vineyards Art & Music Festival as over 50 art vendors, musicians, and food trucks pair with their award-winning wine collection on July 24 and 25.
In its 13th year, owners Janette and Erik Figueroa invited guests to a “fun, laid back, friendly and entertaining venue” where you’ll find “great art from funky to traditional, a broad variety of music (folk, bluegrass, Americana, and maybe a didgeridoo or two), and wine!”
Vendors like Jose and Susan Navarro, owners of Cafecito Cubano, are ready to serve Sleepy Creek customers with their authentic Cuban food that is inspired by Jose’s grandmother.
“Sleepy Creek was actually the first place we parked (with their food truck) and we have been going there for four years now,” Susan said. “We have watched them grow and change.
“It’s very laid back and relaxing. The customers come from all over to enjoy their wine, music, and beautiful landscape of Mother Nature.”
Jose and Susan will provide traditional Cuban dinners ex: Ropa vieja, Picadillo, fricase de Pollo, plantains, black beans, along with other a few choices with an “American twist”.
“When you eat it you can tell it’s the real deal. The bread is what makes it,” Susan said.
Cafecito Cubano will be just one of three food vendors at this year’s festival. The Taco Man and T&G’s BBQ have also made commitments to provide food while bands such as The Chickadee Sermon, Live Through Wednesday, the Denise La Grassa Band, Ian Leith T’ree, the Stuart Smith Trio, The Merry Travelers, and Mhondoro will entertain.
Gates are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on July 24 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 25. To learn more about this year’s Sleepy Creek Vineyards Art & Music Festival visit their website at https://www.sleepycreekvineyards.com/ or find them on Facebook.
