Jones places second in four-school meet

Kiara Jones was the runner-up for Homer Heritage on Tuesday (Aug. 17) in the school’s first girls’ cross-country meet of the season.
Jones, an eighth-grader, was second in the 2-mile race at the Edgar County Fairgrounds, in Paris, with a time of 15 minutes and 9 seconds.
Teammate Leah DelRossi, a sixth-grader, placed 16th in the four-school meet with a time of 23:41.
Paris Mayo, Marshall and Chrisman were the other schools in the meet.
In the boys’ meet between the same schools, Heritage ended with four top-10 placers.
Sixth-grader Christian Paul ran fourth with a time of 14 minutes and 48 seconds. Seventh-grader Clark Roland was seventh (15:42) and eighth-grader Eli Denmark-Collins was eighth (16:04).
Other Heritage finishers were seventh-grader Clayton Thomas, 10th place (17:01) and sixth-grader Atticus Ashbrook, 20th (28:58).
Homer Heritage will return to action on Saturday (Aug. 21) at Philo in the St. Thomas School Saber Corn Classic Race.
