Oakwood baseball tops Rossville

The Oakwood Junior High Knights opened their fall baseball season on Saturday (Aug. 14) at home with a five-inning 11-1 decision over Rossville.
Avery Haughn had three hits and knocked in four runs for the Knights. Carsen Dudley and Cam Harris each delivered two hits. Dudley reached base two other times via walks.
Collin Furry and Harris teamed up on a two-hitter. Harris struck out five batters in 2 1/3 innings and picked up the win.
The Knights dropped back-to-back decisions earlier this week, losing at Westville 17-2 on Monday (Aug. 16) and at home against Georgetown Mary Miller 12-2 on Tuesday (Aug. 17).
Dudley and Haughn each had two hits at Westville in a game where the home team held an 11-9 edge in hits.
Grady Johnson pitched three innings and registered three strikeouts.
Against Georgetown, Oakwood was limited to three hits, but still held a 2-1 lead after two innings.
Furry pitched 1 2/3 innings and collected three strikeouts.
Oakwood is 1-2 and returns to action on Thursday (Aug. 19) at Bismarck-Henning.
