Oakwood baseball snaps losing streak

The Oakwood Junior High Knights snapped a three-game baseball losing streak in dramatic fashion on Monday (Aug. 23) at home.
The Knights trailed Homer Heritage 8-3 entering the bottom of the sixth inning, but tallied six runs to secure the win.
The walk-off victory occurred on a two-out single by Walker Enos, who had two hits in the game.
Avery Haughn led Oakwood with three hits and three runs batted in. Enos, Carsen Dudley and Cam Harris all registered two hits. Harris and Dudley both drove in two runs.
The winning pitcher was Grady Johnson, who threw four innings of relief. He yielded four hits and struck out two batters.
On Tuesday (Aug. 24), the Knights went on the road and took advantage of 10 hits and 10 walks to dispatch Potomac-Armstrong 11-2.
Dudley picked up the win, scattering two hits in three innings. He walked no one and struck out four batters.
Gauge Carillo and Collin Furry each worked two innings and registered two strikeouts apiece.
Four Knights collected two hits: Dudley, Enos, Trevor McCall and Alex Wallace. Wallace scored three runs and Enos had two RBI.
On Thursday (Aug. 19), Dudley had a hit and drove in a run for the Knights, who lost a four-inning game at Bismarck-Henning, 14-2.
Carillo pitched two innings for the Knights and registered three strikeouts.
Oakwood (3-3) returns to action on Thursday (Aug. 26) at home against Schlarman Academy.
