St. Joseph baseball moves to 9-3

After splitting a doubleheader on Saturday (Aug. 28) at Teutopolis, the St. Joseph Panthers’ junior high baseball team topped Salt Fork at home on Tuesday (Aug. 31).
Teutopolis scored with two outs in the bottom of the seventh of the first game, beating the Panthers, 4-3. St. Joseph bounced back with a 11-5 second-game win.
Against Salt Fork, St. Joseph prevailed 10-1.
Asher Pruemer pitched six innings against Salt Fork, allowing one walk and striking out nine. Gary Page finished on the mound with a hitless seventh inning.
Pruemer stroked two hits as did teammates Trevor Ames, Bryson Houchens, and Cam Schluter. Luke Smith and Zach Harper each tallied two runs.
In Saturday’s first game at Teutopolis, Will Haley delivered three hits, including a double.
Houchens struck out 12 in 5 2/3 innings. Pruemer worked one inning and took the loss. He fanned one hitter.
In the nightcap, Logan Rosenthal and Houchens each had three RBI. Rosenthal belted three hits. Houchens had two hits. Haley scored two runs.
Ames pitched three innings and struck out five. Page relieved, and earned the win. He fanned two in two innings. Rosenthal closed with two hitless innings.
St. Joseph is 9-3 overall.
