White pitches no-hitter at Chrisman

Rylan White twirled the first shutout thrown by a Heritage pitcher this season in the team’s regular-season finale on Friday (Sept. 10).

Pitching at Chrisman, White permitted one hit, walked one and struck out seven in a 12-0, four-inning triumph over the home team.

He was supported by an offense that featured a 4-for-4 performance from lead-off hitter Anthony Happ.

Happ and Destin Nickle each stole three bases in the game. Overall, the Hawks had 14 thefts.

Happ drove in three runs. Kale McComas and Lukas Miller each knocked in two runs.

Happ scored three runs. Scoring two runs apiece were Kalyn Miller, Nickle and White.

On Thursday (Sept. 9), Heritage Junior High’s Destin Nickle broke up a no-hit bid by Georgetown-Ridge Farm in the bottom of the seventh inning with a run-scoring double.

Nickle also scored two runs in the Hawks’ 13-6 loss to G-RF. Rylan White also crossed home plate twice.

Anthony Happ pitched 6 1/3 innings. He walked one and struck out three. Lukas Miller worked the final 2/3 of an inning and fanned one batter.

Fifth-seeded Heritage (2-9) returns to action on Wednesday (Sept. 15) in a quarterfinal game of the Class 1A IESA regional at fourth-seeded Champaign Next Generation.
