Villa Grove competes at Monticello

Three Villa Grove runners competed in the 19-school Monticello girls’ cross-country invitational on Saturday (Oct. 2) at Lodge Park.
In a field of 143 competitors, Eva Piercy was 80th, with a 2-mile time of 15 minutes, 41.6 seconds.
Teammates Lilly-Lynn Davis (100th in 16:46.6) and Teaghan Henderson (134th in 20:08.7) were the school’s other participants.
Villa Grove will return to action on Saturday (Oct. 9) in an IESA Class 1A sectional meet at St. Thomas More.
Villa Grove Boys’ Junior High Cross-Country
Without an eighth-grader in the lineup, Villa Grove finished 21st in the team standings on Saturday at the Monticello boys’ cross-country invitational at Lodge Park.
Mahomet-Seymour captured team honors with 54 points. Villa Grove had a composite score of 576 points.
Sixth-grader Nolan Shadwick led the team, finishing the 2-mile race in 77th place with a time of 13 minutes, 57.5 seconds.
The school’s other competitors were Logan Hauersperger (110th in 15:15.3), Bailey Keith (124th in 15:51.2), Cole Cardiff (130th in 16:07.6), Max Kneer (135th in 16:38.6), Ethan Vail (136th in 16:47.1) and R.J. Mitsdarfer (137th in 16:47.3).
