Russell leads Comets at Chrisman Regional

Oakwood/Salt Fork’s girls’ cross-country team placed sixth in the Chrisman Class 1A Regional on Saturday (Oct. 23) and qualified for the sectional.

All five of the Comets’ runners are underclassmen.

Setting the pace was sophomore Macie Russell. She ran the 3-mile course in 19 minutes, 29.1 seconds.

The other Oakwood/Salt Fork competitors were junior Allie Morris (23^rd in 20:47.7), freshman Aubrie Elliott (35^th in 21:59.1), freshman Alyssa Wells (41^st in 23:26.3) and junior Addie Wright (57^th in 29:53.9).

The Comets return to action on Saturday (Oct. 30) in the Decatur St. Teresa Sectional at Hickory Point Golf Club.

Oakwood/Salt Fork had one runner in the boys’ regional at Chrisman.

Senior Ethan Brewer placed 71^st with a time of 22:50.8 in his final race of the fall.
