Panthers top St. Matthew at home

Addie Brooks notched three first-half three-point shots on Thursday (Oct. 21) helping the St. Joseph eighth-grade girls’ basketball team to a win at home over Champaign St. Matthew, 28-15.
Brooks was the team’s top scorer with nine points.
St. Joseph led, 16-7 at halftime.
Tamara Blackburn-Kelley contributed seven points, Kenzie Atwood scored six points, Katie Erickson ended with four points and Kaitlyn Beyers chipped in with two points.
The eighth-grade team has an 8-1 season record.
The St. Joseph seventh-graders saw their two-game winning streak come to an end on Thursday (Oct. 21) when they fell at home to St. Matthew, 21-14.
The Panthers were held to two first-half points, but matched St. Matthew in the second half, 12-12.
Hayden Dahl hit a team-high eight points. The other six points were scored by Adeline Stevens.
The St. Joseph seventh-graders have a 3-6 season record.
St. Joseph returns to action on Thursday (Oct. 28) at Rantoul.
