Oakwood High School students on “pause” after COVID-19 outbreak
Oakwood High School will shut down temporarily due to COVID-19 exposures among the student body.
As of Nov. 2, at least 11 students in the district have tested positive for COVID-19, along with over 200 students and rising that are considered close contact and testing positive.
“This situation has negatively impacted the safety and wellbeing of our students, staff, and community, as well as the delivery of instruction for our students,” a Facebook post said.
After communicating with the Vermilion County Health Department, all school and activities were canceled, while remote learning will take place for the remainder of the week to identify and notify close contacts and prevent any further spread within the school and community.
