Sophomore Macie Russell became the second athlete in the history of the Oakwood and Salt Fork girls’ cross-country programs to earn all-state honors.
Russell placed 16th on Saturday (Nov. 6) in the 256-runner Class 1A IHSA cross-country state meet at Detweiller Park, in Peoria.
Her time was 18 minutes, 21.94 seconds.
Among sophomores at state in Class 1A, Russell was the No. 2 finisher.
It has been 29 years since the program had a girls’ all-stater when Catlin’s Mandy Weaver finished 11th in the Class 1A state finals in 1992.
