PV-O girls’ basketball rolls through seven opponents

The Prairieview Ogden eighth-grade girls’ basketball team extended its winning streak to seven games with four victories in a seven-day stretch.
PVO won at home over Bismarck, 36-10, on Wednesday (Nov 3), then added a 33-21 triumph at Westville on Thursday (Nov. 4) along with a 29-10 victory at home over Georgetown on Monday (Nov. 8) before finishing with a thrilling 30-26 triumph over Monticello on Tuesday (Nov. 9) in a game the Panthers trailed at halftime, 20-8.
Caroline Aden and Emma McKinney tallied nine and eight points, respectively, against Bismarck. Aden hit 12 and McKinney eight against Westville. Against Georgetown, Aden made nine points and Ally Schmitz chipped in with eight points.
Aden (eight points), Schmitz (seven point) and Mackenzie Loschen (seven points) sparked the comeback against Monticello.
The PVO seventh-graders won once in that week-long span, topping Georgetown 19-14 on Monday (Nov. 8). Kellyn Irwin and Emerson Williams each registered six points.
The Mustangs lost against Bismarck, 23-4, at Westville, 33-9, and at home against Monticello, 39-6. Olivia Berlatsky netted six points against Westville. Greta Goldenstein tallied four points against Monticello.
Heritage Junior High Boys’ Basketball
The seventh-grade Heritage Junior High boys’ basketball team opened its season on Tuesday (Nov. 2) with a narrow 21-20 win at home over Bement.
Heritage trailed, 18-17, going into the last quarter, but two free throws by Brayden Jones and a basket by Kale McComas enabled it to secure the victory.
Jones hit a team-high six points. James Dillon and Clark Roland each scored four points. McComas netted three points. Finishing with a basket apiece were Kaden White and Coltyn Thompson.
The eighth-grade Heritage boys’ squad lost a 60-39 decision to Bement despite a game-high 23-point outburst by Rylan White.
Destin Nickle hit five points, Anthony Happ registered four points and Clark Roland ended with three points. Contributing two points apiece were Brayden Jones and Brenley Sands.
Heritage returns to action on Thursday (Nov. 11) at home against Armstrong.
