Hawks defeat Gifford at home

The Heritage eighth-grade boys’ basketball team has lost two one-point decisions along with a 13-point win in its last four outings.
On Monday (Nov. 15), Heritage lost at Rossville, 45-44, before rebounding on Thursday (Nov. 18) to beat Gifford at home, 43-30. On Saturday (Nov. 20), the eighth-graders suffered a 38-37 loss at Arcola. On Monday (Nov. 22), Heritage took a 31-26 loss at Westville.
Rylan White dropped in 24 points against Rossville, 28 against Gifford, 24 against Arcola and 21 against Westville.
Destin Nickle recorded 18 points against Rossville, 11 against Gifford and three against both Arcola and Westville.
Anthony Happ added four points against Arcola and two against Westville.
The Heritage seventh-graders have lost four consecutive decisions, 39-11 at Rossville, 38-8 at home against Gifford, 39-19 at Arcola and 44-15 at Westville.
Kale McComas had five points against Rossville. Clark Roland led with six points against Gifford as well as with five points at Arcola. Cameron Johnson was the leader at Westville with six points.
Heritage returns to action on Monday (Nov. 29) at home against Villa Grove. Both squads have 2-5 overall records.
