Mustangs to play in Sectional finals

Taylor Maddock scored eight points and Emma McKinney made seven points on Thursday (Dec. 2) as top-seeded Prairieview Ogden advanced to the championship game of an IESA Class 1A regional following a 33-14 triumph over Next Generation.

PVO (13-5) then beat second-seeded Holy Cross, 34-16, in the Friday (Dec. 3) regional championship game and will play at home on Wednesday (Dec. 8) against Schlarman Academy (19-1) in the sectional finals. The winner qualifies for state.

PVO’s seventh-grade team lost in the IESA Class 1A sectional finals to undefeated Schlarman Academy 40-18.

Atleigh Miller tallied eight points and Anna Hammond netted four points.

For the season, seven different Panthers led or shared the team-lead in scoring in multiple games.

The team leaders were Olivia Berlatsky (five games), Emerson Williams (five games), Bella Frerichs (three games), Kellyn Irwin (three games), Atleigh Miller (three games), Greta Goldenstein (two games) and Korinne Travis (two games).

Berlatsky and Goldenstein had the highest individual scoring performances. Each had 10-point games.

The PVO seventh-graders finish with a 7-12 overall record.
