Comets pick up first conference win
Addie Wright scored a game-high 20 points on Monday (Dec. 6) as Oakwood opened its Vermilion Valley Conference with a 51-31 victory at home over Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin.
Oakwood held a slender 8-7 lead after one quarter, but used a 22-point second quarter to build a 14-point halftime lead. Wright knocked down nine second-quarter points.
Ashlynn Pinnick tallied 12 points, Karsen Rupp contributed 10 points and Kalie Tison added seven points.
On Wednesday (Dec. 8), the Comets hit a season’s high for points scored, but dropped a 63-56 non-conference decision at home to Centennial.
Centennial rallied from a 45-36 fourth-quarter deficit by sinking 11 of 20 free throws down the stretch to headline a 27-point quarter.
Wright matched her season’s best with 25 points. Rupp netted14 points and Pinnick added 10 points.
Oakwood (3-7) returns to action on Thursday (Dec. 9) at home against Armstrong-Potomac.
