PVO girls fall short of state tournament

Prairieview Ogden’s eighth-grade girls’ basketball team finished one win shy of qualifying for the IESA Class 1A state tournament, losing a 27-17 decision to Schlarman Academy at home on Wednesday (Dec. 8).
The teams were tied, 8-8, at halftime.
Taylor Maddock hit a team-high five points. Teammates Emma McKinney and Ally Schmitz contributed four points apiece.
The Mustangs end the year with an overall 13-6 record.
Four different squad members led or shared the team lead in scoring for at least one game this season.
Caroline Aden was the leader in 10 games, followed by Schmitz with five games, Maddock in four games and McKinney in two games.
Aden’s 17-point game against Chrisman was the best single-game performance. Maddock and Schmitz each had high games of 14 points.
Schlarman takes a 21-2 season record into the IESA state third-place game on Thursday.
