Hawks split season-opener

The junior high volleyball teams from Heritage split their first two matches of the season.

The seventh-graders lost their opener on Thursday (Jan. 6) to Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond, 25-7, 25-23. Bre Ploense set the pace with six service aces. Addi Hopper and Lillie Bishop each landed one kill.

The eighth-graders fell to A-L/A-H, 25-10, 25-17. Faith Latham served three aces and Kierra Dunlap collected three kills.

Heritage returned to action on Monday (Jan. 10) and swept Arcola.

The seventh-graders scored a 25-23, 25-10 triumph.

Hopper dropped in 10 service aces. McKenna Roedl contributed four service aces and one kill.

The eighth-graders defeated Arcola, 25-10, 25-21.

Hopper led with 10 aces. Latham added four aces and one dig. Kiara Jones finished with two digs, one ace and one kill. Bre McGarigle landed two kills.

In the sixth-grade games, Heritage lost to A-L/A-H, 25-20, 25-15, but beat Arcola, 25-17, 25-16.

The Heritage teams are all 1-1.
