Comets win close contest with Milford
By Fred Kroner
Dalton Hobick tallied 15 points and a scoreless fourth quarter didn’t hinder the Oakwood boys’ basketball team on Tuesday (Jan. 11) as it dispatched visiting Milford, 37-34, in a Vermilion Valley Conference contest.
Gaven Clouse and Josh Young each netted six points for the Comets, who are 5-0 in the VVC. Josh Ruch added five points.
Oakwood led, 10-6, after one quarter and carried a 37-25 lead into the final period.
The Comets (16-4) take a five-game winning streak into the Vermilion County Tournament, which starts on Saturday at Danville’s Palmer Arena. Top-seeded Oakwood drew a bye until Tuesday (Jan. 18), when it will face Westville in the 8 p.m. game.
