Oakwood defeats Milford in conference game

Addie Wright netted 25 points – matching the best single-game performance by a member of the Oakwood girls’ basketball team this season – as the Comets won at home on Monday (Jan. 10) over Milford, 51-48, in a Vermilion Valley Conference game.
Ashlynn Pinnick tallied 11 points and Kalie Tison contributed seven points. Teammates Jaydah Arrowsmith and Karsen Rupp each ended with four points.
Oakwood led, 11-7, after one quarter and 28-15 at halftime. The team held on to win despite hitting only 7-of-28 free throws (3-of-15 in the fourth quarter).
Oakwood (8-13) has won five of its last 10 games and is 4-2 in Vermilion Valley Conference action. The Comets return to action on Thursday (Jan. 13) at Georgetown-Ridge Farm and then will face a rematch with G-RF on Saturday (Jan. 15) in a 10:30 a.m. game in the Vermilion County Tournament at Danville’s Palmer Arena.
