Oakwood/Salt Fork wrestling wins dual meet

The Comets won two dual meets on Tuesday (Jan. 18) at Hoopeston Area. They defeated the host Cornjerkers, 50-27, and overpowered Westville, 61-18.
Two Oakwood/Salt Fork grapplers won twice in contested matches. Carter Chambliss (120 pounds) posted a pin and earned a 5-2 decision. Bryson Capansky (138 pounds) picked up a 9-1 major decision as well as a victory by injury default.
Teammates who were 2-0, with one forfeit, were Brayden Edwards (106 pounds), Pedro Rangel (126 pounds), Reef Pacot (132 pounds), Chase Harrison (138 pounds) and Grant Brewer (152 pounds). Edwards, Rangel, Harrison and Brewer all registered a pin. Pacot’s win was by a 17-4 margin.
Winning once for the Comets in contested matches by pin were Joe Lashuay (160 pounds), Brysen Vasquez (170 pounds), Ezekiel Smith (182 pounds) and Harley Grimm (220 pounds).
The fastest pins of the night were by Grimm (30 seconds) and Lashuay (48 seconds).
The Comets (15-8) return to action on Thursday (Jan. 20) at Rantoul.
