Comets come back to defeat Iroquois West

Oakwood recovered from a first-quarter deficit to post a 54-25 victory at home over Iroquois West on Monday (Jan. 31) in a girls’ Vermilion Valley Conference game.
Ashlyn Pinnick drained 7-of-8 fourth-quarter free throws and made a game-high 19 points. Jaydah Arrowsmith and Addie Wright each had 10 points.
Karsen Rupp contributed nine points, including a 7-for-8 showing from the free throw line.
Iroquois West led, 7-6, after one quarter, but Oakwood vaulted into a 23-12 lead at halftime.
Overall, Oakwood connected on 24 of 36 free throws.
The Comets (13-15) return to action on Saturday (Feb. 5) at home against Salt Fork, in a game originally scheduled for Thursday (Feb. 3).
