Pence leads Spartans with 29 over Stanford Olympia

Ty Pence’s 29-point outburst helped St. Joseph-Ogden reach a season’s high for points scored on Tuesday (Feb. 1) as the Spartans thumped Stanford Olympia at home, 90-40.
Pence has hit the 20-point mark in 13 games this season. He drained 13 of 14 free throws attempts and also had five rebounds and four assists.
Logan Smith tallied 18 points and Coy Taylor achieved a season’s high with 16 points. Smith had five rebounds. Taylor had four assists.
Contributing five points apiece were Andrew Beyers, Nolan Grindley and Brock Trimble. Beyers hauled in a team-high six rebounds.
Hayden Brazelton ended with five assists and Luke Landrus grabbed five rebounds.
SJ-O (17-6) returns to action on Friday (Feb. 4) at Bloomington Central Catholic. The Spartans are 4-2 in Illini Prairie Conference games.
