Rantoul no match for SJ-O girls’ basketball

St. Joseph-Ogden jumped into a 15-0 first-quarter lead on Monday (Jan. 31) at Rantoul and went on to a 47-6 triumph over the Eagles in an Illini Prairie Conference girls’ basketball game.
Ashlyn Lannert led the way with nine points. Ella Armstrong contributed eight points. Addison Frick netted seven points and Peyton Jones hit five points.
Armstrong made both of her free-throw attempts and has hit 14 in a row and 46 of 50 for the season.
SJ-O is 18-7 overall and 8-0 in IPC games. The Spartans will return to action on Saturday (Feb. 5) to play Tolono Unity in a home game originally scheduled for Thursday (Feb. 3) but postponed for two days. SJ-O’s originally scheduled Saturday game with Morton has been canceled.
