Hawk volleyball defeats Tuscola

The Heritage Junior High seventh-grade volleyball team has a 4-6 record following a win on Monday (Feb. 7) at Tuscola.
Heritage rallied for a 21-25, 25-22, 25-14 triumph.
Bre Ploense was responsible for nine assists and eight service aces. Addi Hooper notched seven kills to go with three aces and two digs.
Makenna Roedl had five aces, three kills and one dig. Kalyn Miller totaled three kills and three aces. Jayden Schrock served up three aces. Lillie Bishop finished with two kills.
In its previous match, the seventh-graders lost at home to Chrisman, 25-17, 25-19, on Tuesday (Feb. 1).
The eighth-grade record sits at 4-10 after a 25-21, 17-25, 25-17 setback at Tuscola.
Faith Latham totaled six aces, four assists and one kill while Bree McGarigle landed three kills to go with two aces.
Jada Finley collected four aces and one kill. Teammates Kierra Dunlap and Kiara Jones had matching totals of one ace, one kill and one dig.
Ploense served three aces while both Hopper and Mattie White contributed two aces.
The eighth-graders played in a Saturday (Feb.5) tournament at Effingham St. Anthony and took losses to St. Anthony (25-15, 25-16), Newton St. Thomas (25-11, 25-21) and North Clay (25-18, 25-16) while picking up a forfeit win from Mason Clark.
Against Chrisman on Tuesday (Feb. 1), Heritage was beaten, 25-9, 25-16.
Both squads return to action on Thursday (Feb. 10) in Homer against Schlarman Academy.
