Spartans go undefeated in Illini Prairie Conference

St. Joseph-Ogden’s girls’ basketball team successfully ran the table against all Illini Prairie Conference opponents when it dispatched visiting Paxton-Buckley-Loda, 50-28, on Monday (Feb. 7).
Peyton Jones drilled four three-point shots and tallied a team-high 16 points.
Addison Frick added 10 points, Ashlyn Lannert had seven points and Ella Armstrong contributed six points.
SJ-O turned an 8-6 lead after one quarter into a 24-9 advantage at halftime. The Spartans’ defense allowed PBL to make just five field goals in the game.
On Wednesday (Feb. 9), the Spartans closed out the regular season at home with a 50-32 victory over Pleasant Plains.
Jones and Taylor Wells led the way, each scoring 11 points. Armstrong had seven points. Teammates scoring five points were Frick, Lannert and Payton Jacob.
SJ-O (21-7 overall) ends IPC play with a 10-0 record.
The Spartans return to action on Monday (Feb. 14) with a semifinal game in the Kankakee Bishop McNamara Class 2A Regional. SJ-O will face either Clifton Central or Momence.
SJ-O is the top-seeded team in the regional.
