Heritage JV squad ends season

In their regular-season finale, the Heritage junior varsity girls’ basketball team dropped a 20-11 decision at Salt Fork.
Gracie Tate scored a team-high seven points. Alexus Day contributed two points while Courtney Sanford and Loran Tate each notched a free throw.
Adena Paul was the rebounding leader with six. Gracie Tate cleared five rebounds.
The JV squad finished the season with an 0-9 record.
Four different players led the team in scoring in at least one game during the season. Paul was the leader in four games followed by Gracie Tate (three games), Paige George (one game) and Kamryn Soard (one game).
For the season, Paul was the team’s top rebounder (58), followed by Gracie Tate (41).
The Hawks’ scoring leaders were Paul (38 points) and Gracie Tate (35 points).
The leaders in steals were Gracie Tate (13) and Paul (11).
Heritage played a JV schedule this year in the first year after a cooperative agreement between Heritage and Villa Grove was dissolved. Seven of the 12 players on the Hawks’ roster were freshmen.
Day, George and Paul are juniors and the only non-freshmen or sophomores on the squad.
