Villa Grove ends season with back-to-back wins

The Villa Grove boys’ basketball team finished the week with back-to-back wins.
The Blue Devils lost at home to Decatur Lutheran, 72-39, on Tuesday (Feb. 8) before knocking off Blue Ridge in Farmer City, 71-32, on Thursday (Feb. 10) and Argenta-Oreana at home, 71-68, on Friday (Feb. 11).
Ashton Harrison hit 11 points and Brady Clodfelder had seven against Decatur Lutheran.
Villa Grove was within 43-29 at halftime, but managed just 10 second-half points.
Against Blue Ridge, Layne Rund tossed in 14 points. Clodfelder added nine points and Harrison meshed eight.
The Blue Devils built a 39-16 lead at intermission.
Luke Zimmerman cleared a team-high five rebounds.
Against Argenta-Oreana, Harrison put up 15 points and was backed by Peyton Smith (13 points), Clodfelder (12 points) and Rund (12 points).
Villa Grove held a slender 37-36 lead at halftime. The teams were deadlocked, 55-55, after three quarters.
Clodfelder cleared a team-high nine rebounds. Fancher and Smith each grabbed seven rebounds.
Villa Grove (7-19) returns to action on Tuesday (Feb. 15) at Okaw Valley.
