Maple Syrup Hike at Forest Glen Preserve scheduled for March 13
The Vermilion County Conservation District will offer a guided Maple Syrup Time Hike at Forest Glen Preserve on Sunday, March 13 at 1:30 p.m.
The hike follows Willow Creek Trail and participants will learn the history of syrup making from the time of the native Americans thru the settlement years to the modern-day process. Hikers are invited to tour the building that houses the syrup-making machinery, known as the sugar bush, at the end of the hike. An opportunity to buy syrup will depend on this year’s production.
Pre-registration is required and the fee is 5.00 per person. Hikers should meet in the Gannett Outdoor Education Center Parking Lot by 1:30 p.m. Properly worn facemasks by all participants are encouraged.
