Comets win final regular-season game
By Fred Kroner
With all four seniors in the starting lineup for Oakwood’s regular-season home finale on Tuesday (Feb. 15), the Comets turned back La Salette, 61-38.
Seniors Josh Young and Gaven Clouse notched 19 and 18 points, respectively. Dalton Hobick, the lone junior, to join seniors Griffin Trees and Austin McDaniel in the opening lineup, also tallied 18 points.
Clouse’s point total was a season’s high.
La Salette held a slender 14-13 lead after one quarter, but six points apiece by Clouse and Young in the second period sparked Oakwood into a 32-22 halftime bulge.
Young recently reached the 1,000-point mark for his career and has 1,024 for his prep career. He hit the milestone with a third-quarter basket on Friday (Feb. 11) at Schlarman Academy.
Oakwood (23-7) returns to action in a Class 2A regional tournament game on Saturday (Feb. 19) at home against Westville.
