Spartans headed to Regional championship game
By Fred Kroner
Balanced scoring was the formula used by the St. Joseph-Ogden girls’ basketball team on Monday (Feb. 14) as it cruised to a Class 2A regional semifinal victory over Clifton Central, 53-22, at Bishop McNamara High School.
Ella Armstrong and Taylor Wells each scored 12 points.
Payton Jacob and Peyton Jones each added 10 points.
The Spartans connected on 9-of-10 free throws.
SJ-O (22-7) puts a five-game winning streak on the line in the 7 p.m. championship game on Friday (Feb 18) – weather permitting – in Kankakee at McNamara against the host school.
The Spartans have captured regional titles the last three years that the IHSA has conducted a postseason series in girls’ basketball.
