Villa Grove baseball drops back-to-back decisions

Sam Bender and Brady Clodfelder had hits for Villa Grove in each of its first two baseball games, but the Blue Devils dropped back-to-back decisions.
On Tuesday (March 15), the Blue Devils lost at Paris, 12-5. On Wednesday (March 16), they lost at home to Monticello, 9-2.
Against Paris, Bender was 2-for-4.
Clodfelder pitched four innings in a game where the Paris lead was 2-1 entering the bottom of the fifth inning. Clodfelder allowed five hits, walked two and struck out two.
Against Monticello, Bender pitched four innings and yielded just one earned run. He walked two batters and fanned four.
Besides the hits by Bender and Clodfelder, Tyler Wilson also had a hit against the Sages.
Villa Grove (0-2) returns to action on Monday (March 21) at Rantoul.
