Spartan baseball wins two in Edwardsville Tournament

St. Joseph-Ogden’s baseball team won two of three games in the two-day Edwardsville Tournament.
On Thursday (March 17), the Spartans outscored Belleville Althoff, 14-11, and handled Father McGivney Catholic High School, 6-1.
On Friday (March 18), SJ-O fell to Coal City, 10-6.
Against Althoff, Hayden Brazelton socked four hits, including a single, double and triple, and also scored four runs.
Teammates with two hits were Coby Miller, Adam Price and Charles Voorhees.
Miller and Tyler Altenbaumer each knocked in three runs. Spartans with two RBI were Price and Connor Hale.
Hale also picked up the pitching win.
Altenbaumer was dominant on the hill against Father McGivney. In five scoreless innings, he allowed one hit, walked two and struck out seven.
Brazelton delivered three hits and Griffin Roesch finished with two hits.
Against Coal City, the teams were tied 4-4 until the Coalers erupted for five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Altenbaumer and Price each poked two hits. Price drove in two runs. Brazelton and Altenbaumer each scored twice.
SJ-O (3-1) is scheduled to play its home opener on Tuesday (March 22), weather permitting, against Tuscola.
