Comet baseball comes back and wins at Champaign Central

Oakwood tallied four seventh-inning runs on Monday (March 28) to overcome a 6-3 deficit and post a 7-6 win at Champaign Centennial.
Dalton Hobick, Matthew Miller and Brody Taflinger all produced two hits for the Comets. Miller drove in three runs.
Grant Powell, who picked up the win with a three-inning relief stint, scored three runs. While on the mound, Powell yielded one hit and no earned runs. He walked one batter and fanned three.
One day after winning in their final at-bat, Oakwood dropped an 8-7 decision at Paxton-Buckley-Loda when PBL pushed two runs across in the bottom of the seventh inning for a walk-off win.
Josh Young led the Comets with two hits, two runs and two stolen bases. Miller knocked in three runs for the second consecutive day, two on sacrifice flies.
Griffin Trees and Powell each tallied two runs.
Starting pitcher Lucas Huchel struck out six batters in four innings. Bryson Marchinko didn’t allow an earned run in his two-inning stint. Hobick worked two-thirds of an inning and suffered the loss.
Oakwood (3-3) returns to action on Thursday (March 31) at home against Heritage.
