Comet softball registers first win against Shiloh

Oakwood broke open a tie game with a six-run fourth inning on Tuesday (March 29) as the Comets won their first softball game of the season.
Oakwood overpowered visiting Shiloh, 8-4.
The teams were tied, 2-2, before Alaina Rothwell’s two-run single gave the Comets the lead for good, 4-2. Ashlynn Pinnick coaxed a bases-loaded walk, driving in the fifth run. Olivia Fegett added a two-run single, giving her three RBI for the game, and the rally ended with a run-scoring hit by Audrey Schnaus.
Karsen Rupp pitched all seven innings, allowing five hits. She struck out six batters. Rupp stole two bases and hit a game-tying solo home run in the second inning.
On Monday (March 28), Savannah Nevitt had two hits for Oakwood in an 18-0 non-conference softball loss at Tolono Unity.
Rupp took the loss for the Comets. She had one strikeout.
Oakwood (1-4) returns to action on Thursday (March 31) at home against Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond.
