Oakwood baseball drops VCC game

Dalton Hobick, Matthew Miller and Grant Powell collected two hits apiece on Monday (April 4), but Oakwood lost a Vermilion Valley Conference baseball game at home,11-3, to Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin.
Hobick, who stole four bases, scored two runs. Noah Phillips, who stole two bases, tallied the Comets’ other run.
Travis Tiernan, who recorded seven strikeouts in five innings, took the loss despite yielding just two earned runs.
On Wednesday (April 6), the Comets lost a 12-2 decision at Tuscola.
Griffin Trees scored both Oakwood runs. Powell and Tiernan had the team’s hits. Hobick and Powell each delivered one RBI. Josh Young swiped three bases.
Bryson Marcinko pitched two innings, striking out five, and suffered the loss.
Oakwood (3-5) returns to action on Friday (April 8) at Iroquois West.
