Sam Bender fired a four-inning four-hitter on Monday (April 4), walking no one and striking out seven and was supported by an offense that hit a season high for runs scored in a 16-1 baseball victory at home over Cerro Gordo/Bement.
Peyton Smith produced his third three-hit game of the season to lead the Blue Devils. Teammates Liam Barr and Luke Zimmerman each collected two hits.
Barr, Brady Clodfelder, Tyler Wilson and Zimmerman all drove in two runs.
Villa Grove (2-6) returns to action on Thursday (April 7) at Salt Fork.
