Oakwood recovers to defeat Iroquois West

A five-run sixth inning on Friday (April 8) enabled Oakwood to recover from a 7-3 deficit and produce an 8-7 non-conference baseball win at Iroquois West.
Brody Taflinger pitched four innings of one-hit, scoreless relief and picked up his first win of the season. Taflinger struck out three batters.
Oakwood pitchers permitted only five hits, but issued 13 walks.
The Comets’ offense was paced by Matthew Miller with three hits (two doubles) and five RBI.
Dalton Hobick and Josh Young both finished with two hits. Young and Grant Powell scored two runs apiece.
Powell stole three bases while teammates Griffin Trees and Luke Wallace swiped two bases apiece.
Oakwood (4-5) returns to action on Monday (April 11) at Watseka.
