Olympia outlasts Spartan softball

St. Joseph-Ogden scored four seventh-inning runs on Monday (April 11) but the Spartans’ rally fell short in an 8-7 softball loss at Stanford Olympia.
Peyton Jones had two hits for SJ-O. Grace Osterbur scored two runs. Jacey Lewis drove in two runs and Addison Frick stole two bases.
Maggie Ward struck out seven batters in six innings and absorbed the loss.
On Tuesday (April 12), SJ-O overpowered visiting St. Thomas More as Jones and Kelsey Martlage shared the pitching duties and combined for a no-hitter.
Jones worked the first two innings and earned the win. Martlage pitched three innings and struck out six batters in her first outing of the spring.
Jones and Hallie Brazelton each thumped two hits. Both of Jones’ hits were triples. She had three RBI. Lewis also hit a triple and drove in three runs. Kat Short had a double and three RBI. Jessica Palmer knocked in two runs.
Brazelton, Osterbur and Ava Nothern each scored two runs.
Shayne Immke had a single and extended her season-long hitting streak to 13 games.
SJ-O (9-4) returns to action on Thursday (April 14) at home against Paxton-Buckley-Loda.
