Another Illini Prairie Conference win for Spartan softball

Alyssa Acton pitched a complete game on Monday (April 18) as St. Joseph-Ogden dominated Prairie Central, 16-4, in an Illini Prairie Conference softball game in Fairbury.
Acton walked one and struck out six in five innings.
Acton belted two hits as did Peyton Jones, Jacey Lewis and Kelsey Martlage.
Jones and Addy Martinie each scored three runs. Lewis had three RBI. Acton and Ava Northern drove in two runs apiece.
The Spartans’ six-game winning streak was snapped on Tuesday (April 19) with a 4-3 loss at Mattoon.
Addison Frick scored two of the SJ-O runs. Hallie Brazelton reached base three times, with a hit, a walk and a hit by pitch. She also drove in a run.
The SJ-O hits were spread between Brazelton, Frick, Lewis and Martlage. Grace Osterbur scored the team’s other run. Martinie delivered one RBI.
Martlage suffered the loss. She pitched in relief of Maggie Ward, who pitched four scoreless innings and netted three strikeouts.
SJ-O (14-5) returns to action on Thursday (April 21) at home against Pontiac.
