Comet baseball wins two late last week

Oakwood scored three runs in the top of the first inning on Thursday (April 21) at Seeger, Ind., but the home team recorded 10 runs in the bottom of the first en route to a 16-3 victory.
Matthew Miller collected two of the Comets’’ four hits and scored one run.
Travis Tiernan had one hit and two RBI. Dalton Hobick also had a hit.
Bryson Marcinko and Grant Powell also scored runs for the Comets.
On Friday (April 22), playing for the fifth consecutive game, the Comets overwhelmed Salt Fork, 14-4.
Hobick and Brody Taflinger stroked three hits apiece. Taflinger had three RBI and three runs scored.
Contributing two hits each were Miller, Powell and Josh Young. Powell and Young tallied two runs as did Hobick.
The pitching win went to Lucas Huchel, who worked 5 1/3 innings and yielded three hits. He walked six and struck out five. Hobick got the final two outs, one by strikeout.
Oakwood (9-8) returns to action on Monday (April 25) at Danville Schlarman Academy. The Comets are 4-2 in Vermilion Valley Conference play.
